On June 19, the European Council is gathered to discuss the Commission’s proposals for the 2021-2027 European budget and the recovery plan.
In this context, several solidarity associations all over Europe are appealing to the European institutions and to the Heads of State and Government to respond to the wave of precariousness they face and the considerable increase in the needs of the poor.
The associations ask the European Union to take into account the extreme gravity of the current situation by increasing the resources dedicated to food and material aid and by making the fight against poverty a top priority. They are calling on decision makers to respond to this alert, while 87 million Europeans are already living below the poverty line.
