Over 100 participants from 31 different countries attended the FEBA Annual Convention at the FAO headquarters in Rome.
On the occasion of the celebration of the thirty years of activity of the Banco Alimentare Foundation in Italy, the European Food Banks Federation (FEBA), chose our country and, precisely, the city of Rome, as the venue for their Annual Conference that was held on 15-18 May.
We, as Elior, were guests of this important event as speakers during the days of work. In addition, the conference started with an International Meeting at the FAO, the United Nations agency that fight the hunger of the world, for which we handle the catering service.
The conference brought together over 100 participants including representatives of Food Banks, companies, decision-makers, industry experts, non-profit organizations and associations, from 31 different countries. “Towards the next decade, together” was the theme that led the works with a precise focus on good practices and future challenges in terms of circular economy and prevention of food waste.
This event, in addition to the chore of outlining the experience of Food Banks around Europe, allowed the participants to share a vision of a sustainable future from an environmental and social point of view, and to discuss concrete actions. For us at Elior, the value of food is a priority topic which personally involves us in our daily activity. We do this by paying attention to the entire meals production chain, using innovative solutions from a technological point of view in order to minimize waste. Furthermore, for over ten years we have been collaborating with Banco Alimentare Foundation, recovering surplus food from some of our restaurants.
