The General Assembly of the FødevareBanken, FEBA Danish Full Members, voted for a new President on 9 May 2022. The newly elected President is Mr Flemming Nør-Pedersen, who is Head of members and markets and interim CEO of The Danish Agriculture and Food Council dealing with the food sector’s framework conditions, innovation, reputation, and marketing. He is looking forward to working in close cooperation with the director of FødevareBanken, Lea Gry von Cotta-Schønberg.
Flemming is 54 years old, married, and has four children. His leisure time is spent on badminton, sailing, and running.
This is his first statement as President of FødevareBanken as published on LinkedIn:
“Food waste costs – both financially and on the climate accounts. Therefore, it is crucial for the climate that food is eaten and not wasted.
That is why I am particularly excited to have been elected chairman of the board of FødevareBanken, the largest food waste organization in Denmark, where volunteers work in a structured and secure manner to distribute food surpluses to vulnerable citizens. Fødevarebanken receives surplus food from food producers and wholesalers, including our members of the Danish Agriculture and Food Council. I am very much looking forward to leading the future efforts to combat food waste and food poverty in Denmark.
From previous consumer analyzes, we know that food waste worries the Danish population and with the current situation where we are experiencing sharp increases in food prices and food shortages in several places in the world, it is even more important that we make the best possible use of our resources and ensure a robust value in the food industry.
Great recognition to all the volunteers in FødevareBanken. You make a great effort. It must continue to be fun and rewarding to volunteer at the Food Bank, I will do my part for that. Without the support of the more than 200 volunteers, FødevareBanken could not take on the tasks we do today.”
