In November, Food Bank Moldova held the first edition of the Gala Recunoștinței pentru Prevenirea Risipei de Alimente (Gratitude Gala for Preventing Food Waste), an event dedicated to recognising organisations and individuals who actively support the fight against food waste.
Among the honourees was Kaufland Moldova, the first retailer to partner with Food Bank Moldova in combating food waste. Over the past four years, Kaufland has consistently donated surplus food and supported initiatives to raise awareness and educate the public about zero-waste practices. Their efforts have helped transform recovered food into hot meals for thousands of people in need.
Cristina Aramă, PR Manager at Kaufland Moldova, highlighted the importance of these efforts:
“Working with food daily, we understand how essential it is to reduce waste. Our internal processes are designed to minimise food waste, and we are grateful for our collaboration with Food Bank Moldova. Together, we have turned surplus food into meaningful support for vulnerable communities.”
This initiative aligns with the “Partnerships for Social Canteen Services” project, supported by the European Union and co-financed and implemented by Keystone Moldova, AO CONCORDIA Proiecte Sociale, and Social Mission “Diaconia.”
