On 12 November 2024 FEBA attended the Plenary session of the EU Platform on Food Loss and Waste.
The meeting included food waste reduction practices from Japan and the OECD.
During the session, the Joint Research Centre presented their work on Building evidence on food waste prevention interventions with an update of the food use and waste hierarchy.
Specifically relevant for Food Banks is the second stage after prevention, which was previously called “Re-use human consumption” and now called “Donation or redistribution of surplus food” which describes more precisely the activities of Food Banks.
The full report will be published shortly but the source of the presentation is available here.
