Throughout November, the Food Bank of Drama, in Greece, sustained its active efforts to combat food waste in the local market, with weekly initiatives making a significant impact. Every Thursday, a dedicated team from the organisation worked closely with local producers, fostering strong relationships built on trust and generosity. Thanks to the selfless contributions of these producers, 240 kilograms of fresh vegetables were distributed to beneficiary families during the month.
The Food Bank of Drama, established in October 2019 by the Union of Ladies of Drama – H.O.H., has been at the forefront of fighting hunger and food waste in the region. Its mission focuses on recovering surplus food with short expiry dates and distributing it to those in need, including association beneficiaries and institutions across the prefecture.
This ongoing collaboration between the Food Bank and local producers exemplifies the power of community-driven efforts to reduce waste and support vulnerable families, ensuring essential nutrition for those in need.
