France launches annual food collection on 40 anniversary

From 22 to 24 November, the Collecte Nationale des Banques Alimentaires celebrated its 40th annual campaign across mainland France, the Antilles, and Réunion. Over 8,000 collection points welcomed 120,000 volunteers, encouraging the public to donate part of their shopping to support those in need.

For four decades, the Food Bank network has relied on the generosity of the French people, ensuring that vital food aid reaches those who need it most. With the help of over 7,700 volunteers and 600 dedicated employees, collected items are distributed to local charities and social welfare centres, strengthening community ties and providing essential support.

This year’s campaign came as food insecurity affects more than 2.4 million people in France. Donations, whether in goods or through the Mon Panier Solidaire website, will help provide vital food and hygiene products, with every euro contributing to the equivalent of 241 million meals distributed annually.

The Food Bank’s enduring mission is a testament to the resilience and generosity of the French people, ensuring no one is left behind during challenging times.

Every contribution from 22 to 24 November made a difference in this remarkable display of solidarity.
