Capacity-Building Workshop in Budapest

From November 5 to 7, FEBA hosted an engaging Capacity-Building Workshop in Budapest, Hungary, bringing together Food Bank professionals from 16 European countries for an enriching three-day experience.

The workshop began with a warm welcome and a unique activity: a Charity Cooking Session at the Sztehlo Gábor Children’s Home. Food cooked for a good cause, fostering camaraderie while making a meaningful contribution. The evening concluded with a delightful group dinner and a nighttime tour of Budapest’s stunning sights.

Day two focused on skill-building and shared learning. The sessions included insightful presentations from the Czech Food Banks Federation, highlighting its role in supporting national food security. Balazs from FEBA offered practical advice on food sourcing and effective donor engagement, followed by Sofiia’s discussion on fostering partnerships between Food Banks and charities.

On the final day, participants visited the Hungarian Food Bank, gaining firsthand insights into its operations and impact. This closing experience provided valuable takeaways and strengthened the bonds among Food Bankers before their departure.

A huge thank you to all participants for their enthusiasm and contributions, which made this workshop a success.
