To take a deep dive into the activities of Magyar Élelmiszerbank Egyesület, FEBA Member in Hungary, our Network Development Coordinator visited the Food Bank, which is located on the outskirts of Budapest.
Part of the agenda was a warehouse tour and an explanation of the food items recovered and redistributed. Next to bakery products and fruits and vegetables, the Food Bank also receives canned food directly from manufacturers, which cannot be sold due to labelling mistakes or quantity deviations but is safe for consumption and very nutritious.
Besides facilitating the pick up of food by charities that then redistribute it to vulnerable individuals and families, co-workers prepared boxes with materials for the Spring Food Collection that will take place on 11 and 12 May in 215 supermarkets across the country. Customers can buy shelf-stable products and donate them for the benefit of people in need.
A huge thank you to the entire team for the warm welcome!
