On 16 October Federația Băncilor pentru Alimente din România celebrated World Food Day as a collaborative effort, involving FEBA and the 9 regional Food Banks in Bucharest, Brasov, Cluj, Costanța, Craiova, Galați, Oradea, Roman, and Timișoara. International partners, national and regional authorities, and partner organisations joined this collective mission to support people in need and reduce food waste.
Notable contributors to the event included Aurel Simion, Secretary of State within the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Florin-Alexandru Alexe, member of the Parliament, Lelia Mancaș from Edenred Romania, Gabriel Ivan from CHEP, Irina Siminenco representing Nestlé Romania, and Gabriel Carnariu from the Embassy of Sustainability in Romania. They shared valuable insights during the first-panel discussion on food waste legislation and international and national partnerships.
Colleagues from various regions of the country, along with regional partner companies and organisations, travelled extensively to share the accomplishments achieved together. Their stories revealed the profound impact of food, which goes beyond nourishment to encompass care and dignity for those in need. These partnerships, which initially started modestly, have become steadfast sources of support.
