Ukraine: FEBA stands by its member, the Ukrainian Food Banks Federation

To date the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has caused significant displacement, innumerable civilian deaths and injuries, and devastating damages to infrastructures. Millions of Ukrainians have had to leave everything behind to escape with their lives and today the situation remains still dire.

Standing by its Associate Member, the Ukrainian Food Banks Federation (UFBF), from 24 April to 3 May FEBA organised a visit to the country. The visit aimed to assess the current situation and needs as well as checking the level of development of the capacities of the UFBF. The visit was a precious occasion to meet with the team of the UFBF and in Lviv and Kyiv. FEBA Project Manager – Ukraine crisis, Sofiia Vara, also met with many supporting the needy Ukrainians in the most affected regions. They went to the following locations: Izium, Kherson, and Kramatorsk and bringing people not only essential help with products but also hope and confidence, that there are people who care. The visit took place in different cities across the country: Lviv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Kharkiv.

UFBF is currently supporting 37 charities in 17 regions, visible on the map, that are providing food assistance to displaced people and other cities. Since January, UFBF has been providing 702.110 kg of products, which translate to 43.000 food kits for 167.738  people.
