On 17 May 2023 FEBA launched its webinar on the ‘Assessment of the impact of the socio-economic crisis on FEBA Members in 2022‘. The report is a result of a survey for the period of January 2022 until December 2022 answered by 27 out of 30 FEBA Members. The report gives important insights into, on the one hand external impacts on the food banking activities and on the other hand the profile of the end-beneficiaries. The webinar consisted of a presentation as well as a Q&A which shined light on the common paradox in the network of an increase in demand for food aid but a decrease in the amount of donated food, specifically from the retail sector. This worrying phenomenon caused Food Banks to be more creative in finding other sources or means of food donation as well as sharing ideas among each other.
