On 9 June 2022, FEBA’s Secretary General Angela Frigo was invited to the Meeting of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) Committee and Technical Working Group, which took place in Paris. In the intervention by FEBA, best practices from the field to support Ukrainian refugees were presented, beginning with a timeline since the outbreak of the war displaying action taken by FEBA, especially since the launch of the #AllTogether4Ukraine campaign. Among others, FEBA’s visit to its members in Poland, Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine was outlined. Moreover, it was highlighted that the crisis showcased the solidarity among the FEBA network leading to cross-continental food emergency logistics fostered through an online coordination tool. As final point, FEBA gave an outlook on the long-term effects the crisis can have on the work of Food Banks and the end beneficiaries in the light of rising costs of living. The recommendations made point out the need for food aid and cooperation of all relevant stakeholders in order to take the steps and measures necessary to cushion the impacts of the crisis on the most vulnerable of our society.
