The health emergency is impacting on the poorest families. At national level Banco Alimentare estimates an increase of 20% in food demand, with some peaks up to 40% as in Campania. “We are receiving new requests for help, for instance from mayors, especially in the municipalies of southern Italy. We expect an explosion of need”, says Giorvanni Bruno, President of Fondazione Banco Alimentare Onlus.
Through 21 regional Food Banks and about 7,500 charities, Banco Alimentare usually assists more than a million and a half of people in eed every day.
