Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived in Spain

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, through the Spanish Agrarian Guarantee Fund (FEGA) has launched, from September 14 to 28, the second phase of the 2020 Programof Food Aid to the most Deprived. 34.8 million kilos of food will be distribute during this phase.

This food, which account for 39.4% of the total quantities to be distributed in the 2020 program, will be delivered to the storage and distribution centers of the organizations in charge of the distribution, among them the Spanish Food Banks.

In this second phase food will be provided free of charge, such as white rice, cooked beans, canned tuna, canned sardines, canned meat (lean), pasta, canned fried tomato, cookies, canned vegetable salad, canned fruit in light syrup, baby jars of fruit, baby jars of chicken, UHT whole milk, chocolate shakes and olive oil.

In the current situation with the COVID-19, this distribution of food takes on special importance and must be done in strict compliance with the indications of the health authorities .

About the European Program of Food Aid to the most Deprived

This European program is financed by the Fund for European Aid to the most Deprived (FEAD) at 85% by the budget of the General State Administration at 15%. The planned expenditure for the 2020 program is estimated at 91 million euros for 88.4 million kilos / liters of food distributed in 3 phases.

50% of the food is delivered to the Food Banks of the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL), and the remaining 50% to the provincial Red Cross centers.
